Lonely Ghosts is the brainchild of Brighton cased musician Tom Denney. During the past four years Denney has been co-vocalist and guitarist in the south coast indie-noise kids Help She Can’t Swim, with whom he recorded 2 albums, a host of singles and EPs and toured the world playing with the likes of the Blood Brothers, Sleater Kinney, CSS, Deerhoof and Melt Banana. When a period of downtime from Help She Can’t Swim arose, Denney took the opportunity to explore what he could create outside of the group songwriting dynamic. With a handful of songs and ideas rattling around his head Denney retreated to his home studio with a laptop, a collection of guitars and keyboards and a CD of drum machine samples and settled into a personal experiment in solo song writing. He emerged 8 weeks later under the pseudonym of Lonely Ghosts with nearly an albums worth of material and a definitive project. Exploring more pop, electro and acoustic influences than HSCS, Lonely ghosts is an eclectic amalgamation of sounds all held together by his love for a pure ‘pop’ tune.
Lonely Ghosts sind das neue Projekt des in Brighton beheimateten Tom Denney. Die letzten vier Jahre war Denney Co-Sänger und Gitarrist der Indie Noise Band Help She Can't Swim, mit denen er zwei Alben aufnahm und die Welt tourte, wobei er an der Seite von Größen wie CSS, Deerhoof und Melt Banana auftrat. Noch in seiner Zeit mit Help She Can't Swim, begann Tom Denney mit dem Schreiben neuer Songs, die bei ihm zu Haus am Laptop entstanden, mit ein paar Gitarren, Keyboards und einer CD mit Drum Machine Samples, mit denen er sein eigenes Experiment im Solo Song Writing unternahm. Bereits acht Wochen später war genug Material für ein neues Album vorhanden und Lonely Ghosts geboren. Mit einem größerem Schwergewicht auf Pop, Elektro und akustischer Einflüsse als es bei HSCS der Fall war, ist Lonely Ghosts eine eklektische Vermischung von Sounds geworden, zusammengehalten bei der Vorliebe für einen puren 'Pop' Song. Lonely Ghosts sind musikalisch weiter gefächert und persönlicher als Denneys vorherige Beiträge in HSCS, elektronischere Beats und Casios lassen sich auf dem ersten Mini-Album, Don't Get Lost Or Hurt, erschienen bei O.I.B. Records, genauso finden wie klassische Streicherarrangements. Mittlerweile sind Lonely Ghosts zu einer Live Band angewachsen, deren Auftritte sich zwischen experimentellem Avant-Pop und energetischer Punk-Noise Attitüde bewegen. Im März sind Lonely Ghosts das erste Mal mit Band auf Tour durch Deutschland!
The Michelles have just finished their debut album and will perform the first time their new songs live. "The Michelles are starting over. They have seen 6 different line ups in the past 3 years, been kicked out of the UK, had a fight in Ash's dressing room, smoked 'something' with Adam Green, and played many shows that ended in disaster and explosions. All the while they released 2 semi-semi-semi-successful singles and saw their song "Springtime" feature in the 2007 movie, "Two Days In Paris". They have finally finished recording their debut album with many new songs that have never been played live. Are the new Michelles older and more sophisticated? ...Only time will tell..." That's a bio only a band themselves can write.
The Michelles haben gerade ihr Debütalbum aufgenommen und werden zum Teil davon einige live zum ersten Mal präsentieren. Zu diesem Zweck haben wir sie mit auf Tour geschickt.
